GENERAL FAQS

Why should I choose Teralume Industries?

Not all trays and canopies are built the same. Every XGO™ tray, canopy and chassis mount is engineered as one system, in 5052 aluminium with a fully TIG welded structure, and proven through real-world testing in Australian conditions.

It is backed by a 10-year structural guarantee and supported after the sale by our own team. Our focus is long-term value: products that work as hard as you do, on site, on the road or off-grid.

Do you work with all vehicle makes and models?

Yes. Our trays, canopies and chassis mounts are designed to suit most popular dual cab and extra cab platforms including Toyota (LandCruiser, Hilux), Ford, Nissan, Isuzu, Mazda, Volkswagen, BYD, RAM and more. If you’re unsure about compatibility, our team can confirm fitment for your exact vehicle.

What is the current wait time?

Lead times are typically 3 to 4 weeks, and vary with demand and the production schedule. Call us for the current lead time on your build.

Do you offer custom fabrication?

No. Our products are engineered and tested as they are, so we don’t offer custom fabrication, alterations or size changes beyond the options on our tray and canopy pages.

What happens with sensors, cameras and blind spot monitoring when I have my vehicle fitted?

We understand how important factory safety systems are. During fitment, our team repositions or integrates factory sensors, cameras and radar modules to maintain full functionality. There’s no cutting or wire butchering, just clean, plug-and-play adaptation to keep everything compatible.

Do I need to pay extra for a trundle drawer, water tank and toolbox drawers?

No. Where others treat essential features as optional extras, we include them as standard. Our trays, canopies and chassis mounts are delivered complete from day one. See the standard inclusions on each XGO page.

Can I make an appointment to discuss my build?

Yes. Book a time at Teralume HQ, or speak with your closest authorised dealer, to go over options, fitment and finance. Call us to lock in a time that suits you.

Do you offer finance?

Yes, through Handypay. To check your eligibility and start the process, see Finance.

I’m buying my vehicle brand new through a dealership, can I still choose Teralume?

Yes. We work directly with dealerships on pre-registration vehicles, meaning your Teralume tray, canopy or full vehicle build can be included in your finance package. That means no separate payments, no waiting: your new vehicle is delivered fully built, financed as one complete package, and ready for work or adventure from day one. Call us to find out how to include a full Teralume build in your finance.

Where do you ship?

We freight Australia-wide. Wherever you are, we can arrange delivery of our trays, canopies and accessories to you or to your closest authorised dealer.

If I sell my vehicle, can I transfer the ute body?

Yes. Provided the new vehicle has the same chassis design, your tray or chassis mount can be re-aligned to suit. This makes it possible to transfer your investment onto your next vehicle without starting from scratch. If the chassis design is different, modifications or a new build may be required. Our team can advise the best option for your setup.

Can you dispose of my old tray or tub?

Yes. You can choose to keep or dispose of your tub. Any tubs left at our site after fitment will be sent to salvage. Please note, we cannot take responsibility for tubs not collected within 24 hours of fitment.

Will I need a GVM upgrade or to add suspension?

It depends on your vehicle, your payload and your accessories. Many customers touring fully loaded choose upgraded suspension, a GVM upgrade or both. They are not the same thing. Suspension changes how the vehicle carries its load. Only an engineered GVM upgrade, certified and plated for your vehicle, raises the legal figure. Our team can take you through both.

Can you take care of my wheels, tyres and suspension?

Yes. Along with trays and canopies, we can take care of your wheels, tyres and suspension at Teralume HQ. Whether it’s for the way the vehicle carries its load, off-road performance or a complete fitout, our team can manage the whole process so everything works together.

Can you build the rest of my vehicle?

Yes. From bullbars and winches to rooftop tents, awnings and full touring setups, we can build the whole vehicle at Teralume HQ, as one system designed for Australian conditions. Our YouTube channel shows full builds coming together.

Do you build for fleets?

Yes. Teralume works with businesses and organisations on fleet builds. From trays, canopies and chassis mounts to suspension, wheels, tyres and full vehicle fitouts, we manage builds at scale with a consistent finish. Start on the Fleet Solutions page.

TRAY FAQS

Do you make custom trays or designs?

No. Our trays are engineered and tested as they are, so we don’t fabricate custom trays. Alterations and sizes are limited to the options on our tray and canopy pages.

What’s the weight of the tray?

The complete tray weighs 282 kg dry.

How much heavier is your tray than my tub?

Typically, most dual cab tubs weigh between 140 and 160 kg. Our tray weighs in at 282 kg, only 120 to 140 kg heavier than your factory style side tub.

Where does the spare tyre go?

Our dual cab tray does not interfere with the manufacturer’s designated spare tyre location. However, LandCruiser platforms will require a rear wheel carrier to accommodate the spare.

How is the fuel filler relocated?

We have developed our own fuel filler system that will allow both normal flow and high flow pumps. Our system allows the filler to be located in front of the wheel guard and can be used on either side of the vehicle. We use SAE J1527 flexible fuel hose with an internally vented breather.

Do you have an integrated water tank?

Yes, we have used the cavity in the headboard to mount a 22 L gravity fed water tank with outlets on both sides of the front of the tray, on every platform. We have an integrated lockable tap on the driver’s side of the tray as standard.

A tray also carries a 58 L tank on a dual cab, or a 78 L tank on a space cab or the USA platform. A chassis mount carries that tank alone.

WATER CARRIED, BY PLATFORM AND BODY
PLATFORMTRAYCHASSIS MOUNT
Dual cab 80 L22 L headboard + 58 L tank58 LTank only
Space cab and USA platform 100 L22 L headboard + 78 L tank78 LTank only

The tanks are rotomoulded, so capacities are approximate.

Is your tray powder coated or painted?

Our trays are powder coated in a flat matte finish with a smooth light texture.

Can I install it myself?

We recommend professional fitment through Teralume HQ or an authorised dealer to ensure proper alignment and compliance. However, all of our trays include detailed fitment instructions for specific vehicles if you prefer to install it yourself.

CANOPY FAQS

Can I mount a rooftop tent on the XGO canopy?

Yes. Our canopies are fully braced and take their strength from the frame and the sheet metal together. The Unistrut frame lets every accessory be fitted with confidence in what it is fixed to. See the roof rails under XGO External Accessories.

Can you colour code the doors for me?

Yes. Teralume HQ in Brendale offers colour-matched, spray-painted doors to match your vehicle.

Are your doors height adjustable?

Yes. There are adjustment points on the doors themselves and on the canopy gas strut mount, so you get the height right.

Does water get through the hinge like all the others?

No. The gutter is a mechanical drainage point, so water runs away from the hinge, not through it. The hinge itself is sealed with a thin PVC material from the marine industry.

How do I mount my canopy?

We have integrated nut rivets in the frame of our tray to mount your canopy. The nut rivets line up exactly with the pre-drilled holes in the canopy so fitting or removing it takes under 5 minutes.

Can I change the internal setup?

Yes. All of our products are modular: you can add drawers, shelves, lighting, power systems and more. See the XGO accessories range.

Are the canopies dust and waterproof?

Yes. We use pinch-weld seals, compression locks and reinforced welding to keep water and dust out in Australian conditions.

Are the canopies secure?

Yes. All doors are fitted with heavy-duty compression and whale-tail locks, with an additional central locking option available.
