Tray, Canopy & Chassis-Mount Body Warranty
Teralume Industries stands behind the design, manufacture and workmanship of its trays, canopies and chassis-mount bodies.
Our voluntary warranty provides:
10-Year Structural Guarantee
Teralume trays, canopies and chassis-mount bodies are guaranteed against covered structural defects for 10 years.
5-Year Component & Accessory Warranty
Teralume-manufactured components and accessories are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for 5 years.
2-Year Coating Warranty
Teralume-applied powder coating and protective finishes are warranted against defects in original preparation and application for 2 years.
These warranties are provided in addition to any rights and remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law.
1. 10-Year Structural Guarantee
Teralume guarantees the primary load-bearing structure of its trays, canopies and chassis-mount bodies against failure caused by defects in materials, fabrication or workmanship for 10 years from the original date of supply.
A structural defect means cracking, fracture, separation, permanent deformation or failure of a covered structural component that materially affects the strength, integrity or safe use of the product.
Structural components covered include:

Primary tray frames and chassis assemblies

Structural cross-members
-
Structural floor assemblies forming part of the load-bearing structure

Structural headboard assemblies
-
Canopy structural frameworks
-
Chassis-mount and service-body structural frameworks

Structural mounting frames and brackets supplied by Teralume

Primary structural aluminium assemblies

Welded joints forming part of these structural components
The Structural Guarantee applies where the failure results from a defect in the original materials, fabrication or workmanship.
2. What the Structural Guarantee Does Not Cover
The 10-Year Structural Guarantee is not a 10-year warranty over every component fitted to the product.
Unless directly affected by a covered structural defect, the Structural Guarantee does not cover:

Locks, handles or latches

Seals

These items may be covered separately under another applicable Teralume warranty.
3. 5-Year Component & Accessory Warranty
Teralume-manufactured and Teralume-branded non-structural components and accessories are warranted for 5 years against defects in materials and workmanship.
This includes, where supplied as a Teralume product:

Roof racks and rails

Jerry can holders

This warranty covers defects in original manufacture.
It does not cover normal wear, adjustment, deterioration, misuse or external damage.
4. 2-Year Coating Warranty
Teralume-applied powder coating and protective finishes are warranted for 2 years against defects arising from the original coating preparation or application.
Covered coating defects may include:

Abnormal peeling

Abnormal flaking

Delamination
-
Blistering
-
Premature loss of adhesion

Other premature coating failure caused by defective preparation or application
Powder coating is a protective and cosmetic finish and is not guaranteed against scratching, stone chips, impact, abrasion, chemical exposure or normal cosmetic deterioration.
5. Coating and Finish Exclusions
The Coating Warranty does not cover damage or deterioration caused or contributed to by external influences.

Contamination should be removed and the affected area washed as soon as reasonably practicable.
Salt and coastal exposure
Damage caused or contributed to by the following is not considered a coating defect:

Beach or coastal use does not itself void the warranty.

6. General Warranty Exclusions
Subject always to Australian Consumer Law, Teralume's voluntary warranties do not cover failure, damage or deterioration to the extent caused or contributed to by:

Normal wear and tear

Scratching, dents, chips or cosmetic damage

Accident, collision or impact

Misuse or abuse

Neglect or lack of reasonable care

Overloading

Exceeding product load limits

Exceeding vehicle GVM or axle limits

Excessive or concentrated loads

Incorrect load distribution

Unsecured loads

Excessive roof loading

Competition or motorsport use

Jumping or intentionally becoming airborne

Rollover

Fire

Flood

Hail

Continued use after damage or a fault has become reasonably apparent
An exclusion applies only to the extent that the excluded circumstance caused or contributed to the claimed failure.
An unrelated manufacturing defect is not automatically excluded because the product has otherwise experienced wear, modification or damage.
7. Reasonable Care and Maintenance
Customers are expected to exercise reasonable care and perform routine inspection and maintenance.
Warranty does not cover damage caused by undue care, neglect or unreasonable treatment, including:

Allowing unsecured cargo to repeatedly strike internal surfaces

Failing to secure heavy equipment
-
Overloading drawers or shelves
-
Repeatedly slamming doors or drawers
-
Using doors or components to support loads they were not designed for
-
Continuing to use visibly damaged mounts or components
-
Failing to tighten obviously loose fasteners
-
Failing to remove significant salt or chemical contamination
-
Using inappropriate cleaning chemicals
-
Failing to maintain damaged or contaminated seals
Routine maintenance, cleaning, adjustment and tightening are not manufacturing defects.
8. Touring, Trade, Fleet and Off-Road Use
Teralume products are designed for working and recreational vehicles.
Normal touring, trade, fleet and off-road use does not, by itself, void the warranty.
Warranty does not cover damage caused by operating the product or vehicle outside its reasonable design, load or operating limits.
9. Vehicle Weight and Load Limits
The customer is responsible for ensuring the completed vehicle remains within all applicable:

Front and rear axle limits

Tyre load ratings

Suspension limits

Roof load limits

Product load limits

Legal and vehicle manufacturer requirements
The structural capacity of a Teralume product does not increase the legal carrying capacity of the vehicle.
10. Vehicle Chassis and Suspension
The Structural Guarantee covers the Teralume product, not the vehicle beneath it.
The voluntary warranty does not cover failure of:

Factory mounting points

Suspension
-
Springs
-
Airbags
-
Vehicle body mounts
-
Vehicle wiring
-
Cameras
-
Parking sensors
-
Radar systems
-
ADAS equipment
-
Other vehicle components
unless and to the extent Teralume is responsible for the underlying cause of the failure.
11. Dealer and Third-Party Workmanship
Teralume's product warranty covers defects in Teralume products.
It does not provide a voluntary workmanship warranty over installation, fabrication, electrical work, modification or other work performed by an independent dealer, fitter, reseller, workshop or third party.
Teralume does not cover:

Incorrect installation or fitment

Poor or defective third-party workmanship
-
Incorrect mounting
-
Incorrect drilling
-
Incorrect fasteners or fastening torque
-
Incorrect alignment
-
Incorrect wiring
-
Incorrectly installed seals
-
Damage caused during installation
-
Damage caused during removal or reinstallation
-
Modification of Teralume products
-
Rectification of dealer or third-party workmanship
-
Diagnostic time required to identify faults created by third-party work
-
Rework required because a third party incorrectly installed or modified the product
The installer remains responsible for its own workmanship, subject to applicable law.
Third-party installation does not automatically void the warranty on an unaffected Teralume product.
Where installation or other services were sold, contracted or invoiced directly by Teralume Industries, Teralume will meet its obligations in relation to those services under Australian Consumer Law.
12. Modifications
Modification does not automatically void the entire product warranty.
However, warranty does not cover damage or failure caused or contributed to by:

Cutting

Drilling
-
Welding
-
Grinding
-
Bending
-
Modification of structural members
-
Relocation of mounting points
-
Alteration of mounting systems
-
Modification of roof structures
-
Unsupported accessory loads
-
Modified doors or hinges
-
Modified drainage or electrical systems
Teralume recommends obtaining written approval before making structural alterations.
13. Water and Dust Resistance
Teralume trays, canopies and chassis-mount bodies incorporate sealing systems designed to provide a high level of protection against normal water and dust exposure.
Warranty may apply where excessive ingress results from a manufacturing or workmanship defect.
Warranty does not cover ingress caused or contributed to by:

Damaged seals

Worn or contaminated seals
-
Incorrectly adjusted doors
-
Doors not being completely closed
-
Locks not being correctly engaged
-
Pressure washing directly against seals or openings
-
Water crossings or submersion
-
Modifications or penetrations
-
Incorrectly installed accessories

Collision or impact damage
-
Lack of reasonable maintenance
14. Third-Party Products
Products manufactured by another supplier may carry their own manufacturer's warranty.
This may include:

Fridges

Awnings
-
Roof-top tents
-
Batteries
-
Chargers
-
Inverters
-
Solar equipment
-
Compressors
-
Cameras
-
Communications equipment
-
Other third-party accessories
Where Teralume supplied a third-party product, customers may contact Teralume regarding available warranty support.
Nothing in this section limits rights available under Australian Consumer Law.
15. Warranty Remedies
Where Teralume accepts a claim under its voluntary warranty, and subject to Australian Consumer Law, Teralume may elect to:

Repair the defective product or component
-
Replace the defective product or component with the same or an equivalent item
-
Refund the amount paid for the defective product or component
Teralume may repair a product rather than replace the complete assembly where repair provides an appropriate and durable remedy.
A repair or replacement does not restart the original warranty period.
Nothing in this section limits any remedy or choice of remedy available under Australian Consumer Law.
16. Labour and Repair Costs
Where a defect is accepted under Teralume's voluntary warranty, Teralume will provide or authorise the reasonable labour necessary to rectify the accepted Teralume warranty defect.
Approval of a warranty claim does not constitute approval for unlimited labour or third-party workshop charges.
Unless approved by Teralume in writing beforehand, warranty does not cover:

Labour exceeding Teralume's approved repair time

Labour charged above Teralume's approved warranty labour rate

Unauthorised diagnostic time

Troubleshooting faults caused by third-party workmanship

Rectification of dealer or third-party workmanship

Removal or refitting of unrelated accessories

Removal or refitting of customer-installed equipment

Dismantling non-standard fitouts

Additional labour resulting from modifications

Fabrication outside the approved warranty repair

Vehicle servicing

Unrelated vehicle repairs

Travel time

Call-out charges

Administration charges

Priority or express labour charges

Other excessive or consequential labour
Excess Labour
Teralume's voluntary warranty responsibility is limited to the reasonable and approved labour required to rectify the covered defect.
Additional labour resulting from:

Inefficient repair practices

Repeated diagnosis

Dealer error
-
Third-party workmanship
-
Non-standard installation
-
Modifications
-
Aftermarket fitouts
-
Unrelated accessories
-
Work outside the approved repair scope
is not covered by Teralume's voluntary warranty.
17. Authorisation of Third-Party Repairs
A dealer, repairer or third-party workshop must obtain written approval from Teralume before commencing work for which reimbursement is sought from Teralume.
Teralume may specify:

Approved labour rate

Maximum authorised repair amount

Repair location or nominated repairer
Unauthorised repair or labour charges will not ordinarily be reimbursed under Teralume's voluntary warranty.
This does not prevent a customer taking reasonable action in an emergency or exercising rights available under Australian Consumer Law.
18. Warranty Claim Costs
Customers should obtain Teralume approval before incurring substantial:

Freight

Towing
-
Transport
-
Removal
-
Reinstallation
-
Third-party repair costs
Where a claim is accepted, Teralume will bear reasonable and approved costs required to provide the applicable warranty remedy.
Approved warranty-related expenses may be submitted for reimbursement with appropriate receipts, invoices and proof of payment.
Where a claim is not covered by the voluntary warranty, the customer is responsible for their own costs except where otherwise required under Australian Consumer Law.
19. Making a Warranty Claim
Customers should contact Teralume as soon as reasonably practicable after becoming aware of a potential warranty issue.

20. Australian Consumer Law
This warranty is provided in addition to rights and remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law.
Nothing in this warranty excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy which cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled:

to cancel your service contract with us; and
-
to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.
You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods.
If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion.
You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.
